David Ringelstein received his LL.M. degree in taxation from New York University School of Law in 1997 whereupon he returned to his home state of Alabama to practice. David is a partner and practices in the areas of public, municipal and commercial finance throughout the United States, having served as lead bond counsel on projects in more than seventeen states. He routinely serves as bond counsel, bank counsel, or underwriter’s counsel in both public offerings and private placements of debt on a wide range of financing projects including general obligations, utility revenue obligations, tuition revenue obligations, and other forms of special tax revenue debt. David also assists governmental clients with economic development projects and drafting legislation and constitutional amendments when necessary.
In addition to handling all types of governmental financing projects (including cities, counties, water and sewer boards, boards of education, and healthcare organizations), David also has a particular emphasis serving as bond counsel on 501(c)(3) financing projects. He has served as lead bond counsel on more than 50 transactions throughout the U.S. for private universities, colleges, private schools and charter schools.
David is a native of Florence, Alabama, and is a 1993 magna cum laude graduate of The University of Alabama and a 1996 magna cum laude graduate of The University of Alabama Law School. While in law school, David was a member of the Alabama Law Review and The American Journal of Tax Policy and was elected by his peers as President of the Student Bar Association. He is a member of the Birmingham and American Bar Associations and the Alabama State Bar. David belongs to the National Association of Bond Lawyers and speaks frequently at NABL-sponsored educational seminars on public finance topics.
